Back to School Night

Back to School Night is happening on Tuesday, August 15th from 6:00-7:15pm. This is a parents and/or guardians only event where you will get to know your student's teachers right at the beginning of the year and also get an overview of the curriculum your student will be learning this school year. We cannot wait to see all of our Chilton families there!

Picture Day

Picture day is Friday August 25th. Your student will be taking their picture during their PE class. You can purchase your student's pictures by going to this link and entering in your personal email address (this is where your digital copies will be sent) or by going to campuscolorstudios.com and following the below steps

Chilton Core Values

Chilton's August Core Value is RESPECT

At Chilton:

We believe respectful behavior means showing courtesy, admiration or thoughtfulness to someone or to something. When we practice treating others with respect, we will receive respect in return. Respect means understanding and behaving as if we are all unique, capable and valuable.

Talk with your child about what RESPECT means to your family!

Student Parent Handbook 2023-2024

Here is the 2023-24 Student-Parent Handbook. Please read this over with your student(s) to learn the policies and procedures for Chilton Middle School. Each student will receive a hard copy of the handbook with a daily planner built in for students to use to write down important dates and to stay organized with their classwork.

Attendance

Attendance is vital for every child every day as lifelong habits are established in the early school years and contribute to student success throughout their school career and beyond. The best way to keep up with your student's curriculum pacing is to ensure they are in class daily and engaging with peers and their teachers.

When students are absent, they miss participating in discovery, student discourse, and the friendships made inside and outside the classroom through play and collaborative learning. Knowledge and understanding are more than being able to complete a worksheet; it is connecting new knowledge with concepts known previously to construct new meaning and sharing explanations of what is learned. Our teachers want to celebrate students and peers attending school in person and gaining knowledge.

Please be reminded that our upcoming vacation days for Trimester 1 are:

  • Monday, September 4th (Labor Day)
  • Monday and Tuesday, October 30-31 (Teacher Workday/No Students)

Please try and schedule appointments on non-school days and after school. If your child will be absent for an extended period, please visit our district website or contact the school's front office to set up a short-term independent study contract. We want to ensure that students can keep up with schoolwork as best as possible.

Reporting Absences

There are many ways to report your student's absence and it is important that you report it to us as soon as possible. We wanted to highlight the different options:

Deliveries, Food Drop-offs, and Messages to Students

Parents are NOT PERMITTED to bring in or drop off any food or drink (including water bottles). This includes food delivery services. Lunches are offered for free, so any forgotten lunch can be supplemented by cafeteria offerings. We also have multiple water fountains in classrooms and around campus for students to use.

Items delivered or left in the office by parents will not be delivered to students. Students will not be notified of items in the office and it is the responsibility of the student to come to the office during lunch or passing periods to pick up items. We will only deliver emergency messages to students.

Traffic Reminders

  • Please follow all traffic and parking laws.
  • Please do not park in front of other's driveways, garages, or designated no parking areas around the campus (including the bus loop) and surrounding neighborhood.
  • Please make sure to obey instructions from the Crossing Guards (California Vehicle Code 2815).

Please no parking in the middle of the parking lot. This causes traffic back ups and doesn't allow others to pull out of their parking spots safely and efficiently.

Please make sure to safely pull forward as far as you can to keep traffic moving.

Have your student meet you at your car further down the line rather than at the beginning of the parking lot. This will allow traffic to flow more efficiently. Please use these two lanes only to drop off and pick students up.
