Counseling Update
RCSD is committed to providing quality education to its students. In an effort to achieve this goal, school staff or parents/guardians may refer students for counseling, or students may request counseling. The aim of the school counseling services is to help students have more effective education and socialization within the school community. Possible counseling topics are coping with changes, transition, self-esteem, friendship and relationship issues, study skills, stress management, fears or worries, academic progress, conflict resolution, social skills, adjustment to school or culture, etc. These services are available at no cost. RCSD school counselors offer short‐term individual counseling to students, as well as small group counseling.
If you would like more information about counseling services available on our site, please contact your student's school counselor.

Community Happenings
Please take a few moments to look through the different events happening throughout our community.
Job Opportunity!
Chilton families! We have an opportunity to support our school community, and make a positive impact on the lives of our students and staff.
We currently have one open position for Meal Duty Supervisors at our school, and we would like to extend this invitation to all parents/guardians, family members, or neighbors you may know who might be interested in contributing to the safety and welfare of our students during mealtime activities. Becoming a Meal Duty Supervisor not only fosters a safe environment for our students, but also allows you to supplement your income by dedicating just an hour or two each day.
The role of a Meal Duty Supervisor is critical to the smooth functioning of our school. By becoming a Meal Duty Supervisor, you play an integral part in building a stronger and more connected school community. We truly believe that involving families in school activities is essential to creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment for our students.
If you are interested in applying for the Meal Duty Supervisor position, please do so through Edjoin using the following link: https://www.edjoin.org/Home/DistrictJobPosting/1811212. Should you have any questions or require further information about the role or application process, please do not hesitate to reach out to our principal Jeff Ancker.
Thank you for your continued support in making Chilton a nurturing, safe, and thriving place to learn and work.

Library Info
Our wonderful librarian wanted some important information regarding checked out items shared with you. Please read the below information carefully.- WRITE YOUR NAME AND THE DATE IN INK in the space provided inside the front cover of the Social Studies textbook. Although all textbooks are tracked by barcode, not name, this will help the student keep track of his/her textbooks.
- SHOW YOUR TEACHER/LIBRARIAN ANY DAMAGE to your textbook/Chromebook or library books before it is checked out to you. Please have your teacher report any damage immediately so it may be entered into our library system. FAILURE TO DO THIS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR MAY RESULT IN A CHARGE FOR DAMAGE TO THE TEXTBOOK AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
- DO NOT LOAN YOUR TEXTBOOKS/CHROMEBOOKS/lIBRARY BOOKS/ OR CHARGERS TO OTHER STUDENTS. Students are responsible for the care and return of all textbooks/Chromebooks/Library books and chargers checked out to them during the school year, whether left in the classroom or taken home. REMEMBER, all the above mentioned items ARE TRACKED BY THE BARCODE, NOT A NAME ON THE ITEM. Returning a textbook checked out to another student will NOT clear your name.
- PLACE ALL LIBRARY BOOKS in a gallon size Ziplock bag. Carrying books to and from school in your backpack may result in damage to the book. Including water damage from leaking water bottles, or rainy days. DO NOT USE tape or other sticky substances directly on library books/Chromebooks/or textbooks. It will result in damage to the book when removed.
- Lost or Damaged Materials including : Textbooks, Chromebooks, Library books, and Chargers
- ALL LOST OR DAMAGED MATERIALS MUST BE PAID FOR. Please remember that your teachers are not responsible for your materials, even if they have been kept in the classroom. We do not accept replacement books for lost/damaged textbooks. All textbooks and library books purchased for our school are LIBRARY BOUND. This is a special binding that allows the books to be used for many years. AMAZON replacements will not be accepted.
- BILLS WILL BE MAILED HOME at the end of the school year for all missing textbooks, as well as those that are returned damaged. Please make checks for textbooks payable to: Chilton middle school, in the amount listed on the bill.
- UNPAID FINES will remain on your student’s account until all books are returned or fines are paid in full. In addition, students with outstanding fines will not receive their yearbooks at the end of the year, and may not be allowed to participate in year end activities.
PLEASE CONTACT THE CHILTON LIBRARIAN FOR REPLACEMENT COST OF EACH INDIVIDUAL ITEM.
We encourage all families to purchase a Chromebook cover to help protect the Chromebook from any scratches or damage. To know which cover to buy, you can flip over the Chromebook and read the model number on the underside of the Chromebook. An example is shown below. You are looking for where it says "HP Chromebook __ __."
Cultural Fun Fact
August 19th is World Humanitarian Day, an international day created by the United Nations to recognize and honor aid workers and humanitarians who risk everything to help people in need. Each year, WHD focuses on a theme, bringing together partners from across the humanitarian system to advocate for the survival, well-being and dignity of people affected by crises, and for the safety and security of aid workers. This year, the theme is #NoMatterWhat, honoring how humanitarian workers serve "no matter who, no matter where, and #NoMatter What." For more information, visit the UN's World Humanitarian Day website.
Chilton Core Values
Chilton's August Core Value is RESPECT.
At Chilton:
We believe respectful behavior means showing courtesy, admiration or thoughtfulness to someone or to something. When we practice treating others with respect, we will receive respect in return. Respect means understanding and behaving as if we are all unique, capable and valuable.
Talk with your child about what RESPECT means to your family!
Student Parent Handbook 2023-2024
Attendance
When students are absent, they miss participating in discovery, student discourse, and the friendships made inside and outside the classroom through play and collaborative learning. Knowledge and understanding are more than being able to complete a worksheet; it is connecting new knowledge with concepts known previously to construct new meaning and sharing explanations of what is learned. Our teachers want to celebrate students and peers attending school in person and gaining knowledge.
Please be reminded that our upcoming vacation days for Trimester 1 are:
- Monday, September 4th (Labor Day)
- Monday and Tuesday, October 30-31 (Teacher Workday/No Students)
Please try and schedule appointments on non-school days and after school. If your child will be absent for an extended period, please visit our district website or contact the school's front office to set up a short-term independent study contract. We want to ensure that students can keep up with schoolwork as best as possible.Reporting Absences

Deliveries, Food Drop-offs, and Messages to Students
Parents are NOT PERMITTED to bring in or drop off any food or drink (including water bottles). This includes food delivery services. Lunches are offered for free, so any forgotten lunch can be supplemented by cafeteria offerings. We also have multiple water fountains in classrooms and around campus for students to use.
Items delivered or left in the office by parents will not be delivered to students. Students will not be notified of items in the office and it is the responsibility of the student to come to the office during lunch or passing periods to pick up items. We will only deliver emergency messages to students.
Traffic Reminders
Please no parking in the middle of the parking lot. This causes traffic back ups and doesn't allow others to pull out of their parking spots safely and efficiently.
Please make sure to safely pull forward as far as you can to keep traffic moving.
Have your student meet you at your car further down the line rather than at the beginning of the parking lot. This will allow traffic to flow more efficiently. Please use these two lanes only to drop off and pick students up.
Make sure to wear your orange and blue every Friday
to show school spirit!
